FAQs

  • The intensive format (15 hours spanning 3 days), is a unique therapy experience designed to accelerate the change process. Breakthroughs are more likely to occur when we can stay responsive to the shifts and revelations that deep and trusted holding can produce. This option is ideal for people who desire powerful results with earnestness.

Traditional therapy, meeting weekly for an hour at a time, brings relief at a slower and more methodical pace. Breakthroughs are still possible, given the brilliance of the IFS model, yet changes tend to require returning to familiar ground in successive sessions.

  • The pace of change will vary depending on healing and growth achieved before arriving at Barb’s door, as well as the level of urgency for change. Increased calm, clarity, hope, and patience is often achieved early.
As the work progresses, trust deepens, and fruitful sessions are typical.
If the desire for change is powerful, and an investment in a 3 day VIP is possible, transformational change can happen quickly.

  • Barb is one of a limited number of Certified Clinical Consultants with the IFS Institute and reserves space in her calendar to supervise providers seeking certification in the model.

Barb also enjoys working with clients who have discovered IFS and are interested in the depth work this method supports.

Barb uses additional complimentary modalities from the field of expressive arts to enhance outcomes and this attracts professional artists and others who are seeking a return to their creative practices.

IFS stands at the forefront of therapy training models in that providers and lay people learn side by side, becoming peers in the therapeutic journey. True to this sensibility, Barb offers online groups and in person retreats with this hybrid professional -newcomer mix.

  • Hourly sessions occur in the office and in the studio as well as online. Retreats occur at the studio in Hamilton with an evening soak at a nearby private hot springs.

  • All work with Barb is engaged on a private pay basis. A Superbill can be provided for you to submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network benefits. Reimbursements rates should be researched with your carrier.

  • It is best to take some time to identify your top priorities for our work together before we meet. Reflect upon how you would like your life to look and feel when our work is complete. Focusing on what we want provokes all the evidence of why we can’t have it and these very barriers light the way to where the solutions lie dormant, waiting for our discovery.
